My love for Frozen (SPOILERS)

I’m running out of things to write about at the moment and I just gone done watching Frozen, so what better thing to blog about?

Basically Frozen is like the cutest movie I’ve ever seen, so cute in fact, that my boyfriend even loved it too! Anyways, Frozen is a story about two princesses, one has special “powers” and the other one is just normal. They don’t really share why she has powers but she just does so I don’t judge. So their parents AKA the king and queen die in a storm while they’re on a sailboat of some sort and that leaves the eldest daughter, AKA the one with powers in charge of the castle AKA the new queen. So all this time, she’s kept her powers a secret because she’s afraid she’ll be judged or told that she’s weird if she shares her secret to the world. On the day of her coronation, she ends up getting mad at her sister for getting engaged to a guy she just met. This triggers her powers and sets them off in front of EVERYONE.

She becomes embarrassed obviously and runs off into the woods and leaves the town covered in snow. (So she’s basically in Maine.) Her sister obviously spends the entire movie trying to find her to bring her back so she’ll make the town a normal temperature again. After encountering monsters, wolves, a snowman, and a cute boy with a reindeer she finally finds her sister, Elsa (the one with powers), in an elegant ice castle.

Elsa gets mad at Ana again and strikes her in the heart with her powers by “accident”. If you ask me, I think Elsa has a death wish out for Ana. Any hoo, Ana’s condition gets worse because in order to make her heart warm again, she has to find her true love. So this part was pretty action-y and at the end she steps in front of her “fiancĂ©” who has a sword and is ready to kill Elsa. Ana freezes as the sword comes down on her but this act is an act of true love so her heart is now a warm temperature again and she lives happily ever after with her sister, the snowman, and the cute boy with a reindeer (her true love).

Now you can agree with me that this is the cutest movie ever.

My Recent Confusion

I will never understand why the price of college has to be so high. I’m literally going to be in debt for so long after I graduate from UMaine. Why can’t it be like anywhere else in the world where they don’t charge you at all to go for college?

The price of college has been on my mind lately. It’s actually been a stressor. I know that there’s nothing I can do about it right now but save up the money I do have and fill out scholarships but I still have a weight on my shoulders about the stress I will endear later in life. If you actually think about it, college should be the same as high school. It’s basically the same thing, we go everyday but we don’t live on campus. It makes sense to charge for housing and meals but I don’t understand why books and class fees are so expensive!

I also need a new car since I’ll be living in Orono next year while working at EMMC. Coincidentally, that costs money too! So here I am, stuck in this huge hole that’s getting deeper and deeper. On top of this stress, I’m psychotic so I have to work out as much as I can too but I also have to write 30+ page lab reports and do every other assignment that each teacher gives me. My mind feels like it gets heavier with each task I think about. On the outside, I look like I deal with stress well or not like a crazy lunatic like I actually do in my head.

Either way, I’m feeling confused about why a seventeen year old girl has this much to do and hasn’t been taught how to handle any of it. High school doesn’t show you how to fill out college applications or scholarships and they sure don’t tell you how much college itself costs.

I feel like high school should have a “life” course that’s a requirement for all students to take.

My Job

I got my first job about 3 summers ago right after my fifteenth birthday at Crosby’s Drive-In. I knew nothing about working really, all I had done was babysat and helped my aunt clean her salon. I knew nothing about working with people and dealing with the public. I remember being so nervous to start the job but some of my friends worked there and told me that they’d help me. Training wasn’t bad at all and before I knew it, I was the one training other people.

I guess what I like about working at Crosby’s is that it doesn’t really feel like a “job”. Obviously, we’re working, but the bond that I formed with all of the great people that work there made me enjoy working so much more. We literally always tell each other that we’re a family. From our bosses Jen, Mike, and Alex, to the front end girls: Natasha, Kaylie, Chloe, Katy, and Morgan. Luckily, we have the best bosses ever and they add so much to making work fun. From telling our life problems to them or participating in scavenger hunts and water balloon fights-we’re always having the best time.

Each of us have an extremely outgoing personality so it gets a little crazy when you put all of us in a room together. We even have “Crosby’s Girls Nights” where we prank call Mike and Alex, sit around and eat pizza, watch movies, and socialize. I’m so excited for this summer because I know that so many new memories are going to be made and I literally can’t wait. I’m also so excited because I’m in love with the food, but I’m going to try to have some self-control this year! ;) Anyways, I literally love my job and my work family and I can hardly wait for summer to come! :)))))

Karly Nayli

My Aunt Kelly recently gave birth to her first child, Karly. I was so excited and still am excited about it—don’t get me wrong. But labor is a LONGGGGGG process. I thought “Oh we’re going in at midnight, Karly should be here by morning!” Man, was I wrong.

We arrived at the hospital around midnight. My aunt and uncle were in the truck ahead of us and my mom, grandparents, other aunt, and I were in my grandparents SUV behind them. Of course, after we got there, we were so excited that we couldn’t sleep. (There was also nothing to sleep on by the way… so I pushed two chairs together and made do with that). Anyways, we stayed up talking and watching TV, going on the internet to try to keep ourselves busy.

When 6:30 AM rolled around we were starving and didn’t want hospital food so we went down the road to Denny’s. I practically fell asleep at the table. I had 3 cups of coffee—I NEVER drink coffee either. So when we got back to the hospital, Sue Lanpher, a family friend, showed up with her camera to get plenty of pictures. My grandmother came out of the room that my aunt was in and told us that they had started giving her Pitocin to speed up the birthing process. After a few hours she was only 5 cm dilated, even after they induced her. She wasn’t making any progress.

To pass time, my brother showed up when my dad went into work since he works right in the hospital, so we walked around and got free food with my dad’s employee card. The anticipation was killing me so I can only imagine what it was doing to my aunt.

9:33 PM rolled around on February 17 and little Karly was finally born! It was one of the most memorable days of my life and I’m so happy I got to experience it.

My Fun/Relaxing Weekend

I had a pretty good weekend this weekend. Friday night after school I worked on some college things and then did a few scholarships (there are so many) :/ ! Then I watched some Netflix with my family, we’re really into watching reruns of Grey’s Anatomy lately. It’s literally my favorite show ever. Yang is my favorite.

Saturday I spent most of my day in Bangor. Anthony and I went out to eat at Olive Garden with his mom, Rose and his mom’s boyfriend, Rick. We like to double date pretty often; however, this was a special occasion because it was the day before Anthony’s birthday. Being Italian, Anthony’s family eats at Olive Garden quite frequently, that’s their favorite place to go.

It was quite strange the first time I went to Olive Garden with Anthony and all of his family (aunts, uncles, grandmother, mother), it was quite loud. Some have thick Jersey accents and pronounce mozzarella like "mootz-a-thell" and others talk without an accent. I was taken aback with this new environment. He would whisper to me and make little side jokes that made me giggle to try to make me feel more comfortable. Once I got to know them I realized what a wonderful and loyal family they really are. They basically welcomed me to the family and told me that they have my back. That’s a cool feeling.

Sunday was Anthony’s birthday and I had spent the previous night at his house. We ate breakfast together and hung out for a while. I bought him this new MLB 2K13 game for his XBOX 360 which I also bought him for Christmas (I’m a great girlfriend… I know) ;)

All in all, it was a great, eventful weekend spent with all my loved ones! J

Bear

This is my golden retriever/black lab mix named Bear. He was the biggest of his litter and when we found out he was so big, what better name than Bear? It’s hard to understand the feeling of having a dog until you have one. You get to learn their likes and dislikes, you get to witness their emotions of excitement as you walk through the door after a long day or their sadness when they have to watch you leave. Even though they may not be your entire world. You are theirs. That’s a pretty huge deal.

Anyways, Bear is one of the smartest dogs I’ve ever met in my life. Ask anyone who’s met him. He not only knows the normal tricks like sit, stay, shake, roll over, lay down, speak—but he can sing on command. He’s pretty talented, actually. We found out about his talent a few years ago when my mom was trying to wake my brother up for school (which takes a lot of effort). She would sing “BROOOODYYYYYYY!” in a high pitched tone to try to obnoxiously wake him up. Of course that didn’t work. Then, we heard Bear’s tags on his collar jingle as he came up the steps and joined in with my mom. It was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

Now, that’s how Brody wakes up every day. Bear will howl and Brod will know that it’s time to get up and go to school. Even though Bear hates it when we leave for school and work, he knows we have to and he trusts that we’ll be home later. Every day before I leave I’ll say “Bear, we’ll be home soon! I love you!” and he’ll cock his head to the side and then bark like he completely understands.
